Honey Badger

This is another animal of the region that is recorded around Chahmil, KamarBazargan, KuhDosar, and Sameri. They are nocturnal and dig holes using their powerful nails or live in natural holes, stone gaps, and tree holes. They climb up trees for finding honey. Their walking and jumping is similar to bears. It is named “warrior without a rival” because of releasing strong malodors from glands under its tail, sharp teeth, strong jaws, thick skin and ferocious defensive abilities. It can turn around in its loose skin and bite the animal catching back of its neck. They are omnivorous and feed from fruits, small vertebrates, birds and their eggs, and animals’ corpus. Honey badgers are very rare animals and are at risk of extinction in the country because of having easily accessible dens, destroying its habitat, and local people’s beliefs about therapeutic effects of its fat.
