Persian desert ibex

The persian desert ibex has the most population among large animals in the area. The persian desert ibex has a bigger body compared to the domestic goat. Males are called “Pazan” in Persian and have long sword-like horns. The female goats have shorter horns than males. Males have long black beards and there is a dark line on their back and shoulders, spreading on their chest like a collar. The hair on their legs, arms and their tails is black in color. Having short arms and legs with a heavy front body, and their hooves’ structure let them move easily on steep slopes of the area. They are diurnal and social, have a good eyesight, smelling and hearing sense, and are dependent to impassable areas. Less animals can follow and catch them in the rocky lands. They feed on fodder, bush, and foliage, and they stand on their feet to use trees’ leaves. Their natural enemies are the leopard and the wolf and their kids can be hunt by the fox and the eagle. According to studies, most population of wild goats lives in Samery, Lafarakh, and Kamartorsh and Kamaranjir mountains in the study area.
